MacLellan Water Technology was founded in 1982 by Kevin MacLellan. Since then, we have grown exponentially and now provide a full range of solutions to drinking water problems. As licenced well drillers we can recommend the right kind of well or surface water intake and oversee its construction. We carry out site inspections and water sampling. MacLellan Water Technology will design, install, and maintain the right water treatment system for your needs and budget whether you are an individual home owner or the provider of a regulated public water supply.

A well record must be submitted to the Ministry of the Environment by the well driller at the time a well is constructed. A wealth of valuable information can be gleaned from a well record including the depth and width of a well, the length and type of the well casing, the geological formations through which the well passes, the original yield of the well, and whether the upper portion of the outside of the well was properly sealed. As a licenced well contractor, MacLellan Water Technology has access to Ministry archives and can usually obtain well records in under an hour. Having the right well record can assist in determining the source of a drinking water problem and can also be very useful for people who are buying or selling a home.
In many cases, the only way to understand the cause of a drinking water problem is to inspect the site. The physical condition of the well and the topography of surrounding land often contribute to poor drinking water quality. Inspections also provide an opportunity to examine the existing water system. It is not uncommon for improperly sized pumps or poorly maintained water treatment equipment to be the cause of problems with drinking water. Interviews with users of the water system often provide historical information or other clues which can lead to a proper diagnosis of the cause of a particular difficulty.
Trying to provide proper water treatment without proper water sampling is like a doctor trying to cure a disease without examining the patient. MacLellan Water Technology's certified personnel are fully qualified to take all types of water samples. Everything from a simple bacterial test, to our standard sampling suite, to full sampling for regulated sites is analyzed by a fully certified laboratory. MacLellan Water Technology staff can also carry out field tests for those who need uncertified results immediately.
The most crucial step in solving a drinking water problem is selecting the right treatment approach. The potential for continued aggravation and, of course, a portion of your hard earned money rides on this decision. At MacLellan Water Technology we pride ourselves on our ability to combine information from well records, site inspections, and water sampling with years of experience to provide you with the solution you need at the lowest price. We design water treatment systems for the smallest private site to fully regulated facilities and everything in between. Sites we have dealt with include cottages, homes, schools, farms, restaurants, factories, day cares, seniors' homes, cruise liners, and nuclear facilities. We do not represent any particular manufacturer so we are able to select the best equipment for your job from anything on the market.
No matter how well a water system is designed, it won't solve your water problem until it is installed and running at your site. MacLellan Water Technology's professional installation technicians are capable of quickly and efficiently installing any water system. From pumps to filters to new wells, no water equipment is outside our range. We will happily accommodate small installations for private clients and have a demonstrated ability to handle large installations for regulated sites.
In May of 2003 the government of Ontario enacted Regulation 170/03. Under this regulation many previously regulated facilities found themselves facing new rules for water treatment and many other facilities found themselves responsible for regulated water treatment for the first time. The staff at MacLellan Water Technology will make sure that your site complies with Regulation 170/03 whether it means minor adjustments to your water system or the design of a completely new system from scratch. We also offer a full range of services to cover the on-going monitoring, testing, data storage, and reporting demands of the regulation.
Regulated sites and facilities require on-going monitoring. MacLellan Water Technology staff are fully certified to carry out all the testing and operational checks required by government regulations. We can also handle data storage, report writing, and emergency responses. We are willing to work with you to provide the amount of assistance which meets your requirements and budget.
Remote monitoring represents a highly cost effective means of meeting certain sampling requirements for many regulated facilities. MacLellan Water Technology has developed an Internet-based remote monitoring system specifically for the needs of these sites. Our lease package includes free hardware maintenance and free upgrades of both hardware and software as improvements are introduced. You are never stuck with a computer system or software package that has suddenly become obsolete!
All water systems, whether in private homes or large, regulated facilities, require periodic maintenance to ensure their proper function. With everything else that goes on in life it can be difficult to remember to change UV bulbs or carry out systems checks at the proper times. Have MacLellan Water Technology add you to our regular maintenance schedule. We will take care of all the details and ensure that small problems are caught before they become major headaches.
Periodic checks of the water systems at cottages or rental accommodations for absentee owners are another useful service provided by MacLellan Water Technology. We can also arrange to open the water systems for cottages and camps in the spring and close them up again in the fall.
Occasionally an unfortunate situation arises and the emergency repair of a water system is required. MacLellan Water Technology knows what it means when your home, business, or regulated facility is without water. Our trained service technicians stand by to assist you in your time of need.
Well Installation and Remediation
Sometimes the only way to properly treat a water problem is to attack the problem at its source - the well. This may mean physical upgrades to a well or, in extreme cases, abandoning the existing well and building a new one. MacLellan Water Technology is a licenced well contractor with certified well technicians on staff. We can carry out upgrades or construct a new well in accordance with the exacting standards required to bring an end to your water problems.
MacLellan Water Technology also has a great deal of experience installing and maintaining lake and river intakes.
If you need to know the yield of a well, MacLellan Water Technology can help. From quick and simple tests for potential home owners considering a property to multi-day pumping and recovery tests for larger sites, we have the equipment and experience to get your job done on time.
